You must be 18 years of age to visit without a parent or guardian. Persons 16 and older must present a valid ID.

We Accept Only -

  • Valid DMV ID
  • Valid Military ID
  • Valid Passport

We do not accept social services cards.

We do not accept IDs that are taped, altered or expired.

A limit of two adults or one adult and two children are allowed per visit regardless of age.

Children under the age of 18 must be escorted by an adult, and are only allowed to visit on weekends and holidays.

Personal items such as hats, handbags, weapons of all types, umbrellas, packages of any kind, baby strollers, food, tobacco products, lighters, matches, pagers, telephones, recording devices, cameras, illegal drugs, alcoholic beverages, explosives, and any other item considered to be contraband or as a threat to the safety and security of the Norfolk Sheriff's Office and the Norfolk City Jail will not be allowed into the facility.

Public lockers are available to store personal property at the user's expense.

All visitors are prohibited from leaving personal items unattended in the lobby area.

Items shall be stored prior to entering metal detectors.

Visitors refusing to provide all pertinent information to be entered into the jail management system will be denied access.

Visitors refusing to store personal items will be denied visitation.

Visitors refusing to be searched will be denied visitation.
