Sheriff McCabe wants to make the city of Norfolk a safer place to live for everyone. He established the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office Community Affairs Division to provide a range of programs and presentations to promote public safety.

Our Community Affairs staff is dedicated to helping citizens of all ages protect themselves, raise awareness about crimes, such as scams, gang prevention, and child abduction; and learn the latest crime prevention techniques.

Some of the programs include the NSO’s Project Lifesaver program, which is ranked #1 in the country in project searches for people with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, such as Autism and Down’s Syndrome who tend to get lost. Sheriff McCabe was the first in the area to initiate the Yellow Dot program for senior drivers who are at higher risk for getting injured in road accidents. The NSO provides Safety Print ID cards of children for their parent or guardian in the event the child becomes missing. All of the NSO’s Community Affairs programs are completely free. Please take the time to learn more about them and let us know if we can help you.
